Reflections

January 5, 1999

The past month or so I've been hyperfocused on website construction. It's exciting to finally do this, and build upon it.

I feel particularly good about my recent accomplishments. I managed to get Health Support Center visible on the net, which is something I've dreamed of doing since joining that organization in 1991. Last summer I made an announcement to my fellow members of the center (see the 20 organizations listed on that page--I had the pleasure of creating 18 of those 20 pages!!), that I would take on this project and would be willing to serve as Webmaster. Now, I have this glowing feeling when I tell people to check out our site on the web.

By taking the step to post the Health Support Center, I finally had the opportunity to display my baby Northwest Braille Services, a non-profit I organized so that I could receive some support to do my work. Along with my NWBS page, I've included links to Braille and Services for People with Visual Impairments, and also Accessibility and Assistive Technology.

And of course, once I had my nonprofits, it only follows to show myself, my sons Mike and Brian. Sorry, I am married, but my husband prefers to keep his face off the net .

Along with this, I finally have the opportunity to show off my corner of the world. I am particularly fond of Whatcom County and Vicinity, with its particularly beautiful forests and mountains.

Most recently I have been caught up in "harvesting" links around my vicinity and have set up discussion lists for nonprofits and local webmasters.

One of my greatest passions is music, and I am particularly grateful for the many Whatcom County Artists and Musicians that contribute to our community. I have created some special fan pages among those you find there, and I'll let you spot them for yourself.

Last, but not least, are a collection of Nifty Resource Links, which include Government and Politics, Birthdays and Greetings, Web Designs and Tools, Downloads, Search Engines, and other tidbits.

What next?

I'm starting to feel like an octupus, but I feel that my websites is like a totem for me. It is a place for me to express myself and show what is important in my life. Future additions will include additional posts to this journal, an expression of my faith and belief in God, my concerns for environmental protection, and perhaps some additional pages for literature and other pursuits.
