News for those with Diabetes

Dr. Sherris provides a special service for diabetic patients who meet the criteria. That special service is casting for custom molded diabetic shoes. He uses a specialized technique in which a 3 dimensional cast mold of the foot is obtained and from that cast a custom molded diabetic shoe is constructed. These shoes are intended to protect the diabetic foot from ulcerations and pressure points often encountered with conventional shoe wear.

Typical Conditions Meeting Criteria for Custom Molded Diabetic Shoes include:
Peripheral Neuropathy, Peripheral Vascular Disease, History Of Previous Foot Ulcers

How it's done.

Imprints are taken using a specialized ink pad to reveal any pressure points or areas of potential ulceration

A cast mold of the foot is taken with a two part casting technique

Then the casts are sent to a lab where positive cast molds are made from the impressions and shoes are ordered to suit each specific patient’s needs
